On 11–16 March, the Director-General of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas participated at the international seminar “Territorial Matrices as Requirement for Integrated Cultural Landscape Management” in Mação, Portugal. This event, organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, is part of the continuous international project “Science Communication in the Content of Social Networks”. At the seminar, Renaldas Gudauskas presented the report “Science Communication in the Content of Social Networks”.
Among the seminar participants, there were representatives from countries of Europe, South America and Asia as well as international experts. There were discussions regarding the impact of sustainable development on the globalization process, interinstitutional cooperation, cultural heritage as the cultural identity and progressive society as well as encounters and problems related to these phenomena and possible solutions. The participants analyzed the concept of sustainable development in order to achieve a common understanding of the impact of the synergy between the cultural, historical, social, information, and communication spaces.
The event also hosted representatives of UNESCO, who brought to the discussions the issue of the importance of young scholars in achieving the world’s sustainable development.
The seminar included meetings of the project management team, during which the role of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania at further stages of the project was elaborated on. The National Library, as the project partner responsible for strategic communication of the entire project, presented the action plan. Participation in this project will contribute to strengthening the National Library’s role within strategic projects of international organizations.
