The exhibition of historical records “We want to be free, we will be free!” is dedicated to the formation of the State of Latvia. In exhibition, which is held at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, you can also explore Latvia’s neighbor countries Lithuania and Estonia, Poland and Finland, which were founded or reinstated after World War I and also celebrate their centenaries in 2017–2018.
In the exhibition displays documents from National Archives of Latvia, Central State Archives of Lithuania, Lithuanian State Historical Archives, the National Archives of Estonia, Tallinn City Archives, Finnish National Archives, the Institute of National Remembrance Warsaw Branch Office, National Library of Latvia, National History Museum of Latvia, Museum of Cultural History of Latgale, Rezekne Local History Museum, Valka Local History Museum, Finnish Jaeger Battalion traditions keeping society, Helsinki City Museum, and a diverse and rich array of documentary testimonies.
We kindly invite you to participate in the opening on the exhibition that will be on 12th of November at 6:00 p.m., Atrium, 3rd floor. Māra Sprūdža director of National Arcives of Latvia, Dr. Einars Semanis Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Lithuania, Ramojus Kraujelis Chief Archivist of Lithuania will also attend the event.
The exhibition will be open at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, Exhibition Hall, 3rd floor until 3rd of December. The National Archives of Latvia in cooperation with the Lithuanian Central State Archives, the National Archives of Estonia, the Institute of National Remembrance Warsaw Branch Office, and the National Archives of Finland organized the exhibition.
