On October 9, an international scientific seminar “Experiences of Documentary Heritage Research and Dissemination in European Libraries” will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania. The event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. Researchers and scientists from Great Britain, Poland, Latvia, Belarus and Lithuania will present their papers.
The participants will share their research and ongoing projects on documentary heritage collections housed in various European memory institutions. One of the main goals of this seminar is to discuss the question of dissemination of the documentary heritage, because in the 21st century, memory institutions have taken up the challenge to not only preserve and research the heritage, but also to disseminate and open it to the general public. The seminar is a continuation of a longtime tradition, The Martynas Mažvydas Readings, carried out at the National Library of Lithuanian from 1985 to 1999.
