On 15 December this year, Director-General of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas was elected as member of the Executive Committee of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the period of 2021–2024. On 16 December, Director-General Renaldas Gudauskas, who is representing memory institutions, participated at the first meeting.
CIPSH is a non-governmental organisation established in 1949 by the initiative of UNESCO. It embraces international learned societies, federations and associations representing the fields of philosophy, humanities and related disciplines. CIPSH has signed a specific agreement with UNESCO and acts as an advisory council for humanities and takes part in partnership projects.
CIPSH also coordinates international research and encourages sharing knowledge within the research community and transnational mobility of researchers in order to improve cooperation of professionals from diverse domains and assure greater awareness of various social, individual and collective behaviour by highlighting richness and diversity of every culture.
Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas is also a member of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO, member of its Executive Committee as well as a representative for Lithuania at UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Programme “Information for All” (IFAP) and member of its Council.
