Join us on Saturday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m. at the Vilnius Jewish Public Library for an evening of music and poetry inspired by the extraordinary story of the Paper Brigade, the group of Jewish writers and intellectuals who risked their lives to save Jewish cultural treasures in Vilna during the Holocaust.
Hadas Kalderon, creator and director of The Paper Brigade, a new musical theatre production opening in Israel this season, will visit Vilnius together with three young singers and composers from the production, Liam Forman, Maya Levi and Rotem Sharabi. Together they will perform new songs set to poems by Vilna Ghetto poets Avrom Sutzkever, Katreil Broyde, and Shmerke Kaczerginski. The evening will also include selected excerpts from the production and a reading of poems.
The evening will be held in English, while the songs will be performed in Yiddish.
