Spanish Cinema Club. “Seven Billiard Tables” (Siete Mesas de Billar Francés)
The Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania and the Embassy of Spain invites you to the Spanish Cinema Club screening and discussion. This time we‘ll be watching a dramedy by the renowned Spanish director Gracia Querejeta “Seven Billiard Tables” (Siete Mesas de Billar Francés, 2007, Spain), about how it’s never too late to make changes in life and pursue different ways to happiness.
Angela leaves her cheating husband and travels to her ill father's home with her son, only to find that her father has passed away. She decides to restart his billiards parlour to pay off debts. At the San Sebastian Film Festival, Querejeta was awarded for Best Screenplay and the main actress Blanca Portillo was awarded for best acting. In 2008, the film received 9 Goya nominations.
There is no film club without discussions about films. After the screening we invite you to stay, share your thoughts and hear other‘s at the discussion moderated by film critic, Aistė Račaitytė.
